One Arlington restaurant failed and two closed after latest health inspections

Two Arlington restaurants were closed for severe health risks between June 28 and July 2, and two others will have to submit to reinspections after scoring less than 75 in their health inspections during that period, according to data from the city compiled by the Star-Telegram.

Children’s Courtyard, a child care center at 1115 W. Lamar Blvd. which offers food, and Fuzzy’s Taco Shop at 510 E. Abram St. were temporarily closed due to health risks.

Juan Gomez, assistant manager at the Fuzzy’s location that was closed, said the store had to close because of roaches on the premises. It was closed for one day while pest control came and cleared the building. Gomez said new equipment for food was brought in and all food was thrown out and replaced.

Children’s Courtyard did not answer a call Wednesday afternoon from the Star-Telegram requesting comment and its voicemail box was full. According to the city’s data, it scored 100 in a follow-up inspection.

In Arlington, restaurants are graded in health inspections on a 0 to 100 scale, with 100 being perfect and anything less than 70 considered to be extremely poor. Restaurants with a score of less than 75 will be required to have a follow-up inspection and any restaurant with severe health risks will be closed until corrective action is taken, no matter the score.

The three lowest scores were China Harbor at 3512 S. Cooper St. with a 68, Taqueria La Nueva Mexicana at 3311 E. Division St. with a 71 and Danny’s Tacos and Grill at 5815 W. Arkansas Lane with a 77.

China Harbor and Taqueria La Nueva Mexicana will have to undergo follow-up inspections.

Trinity Early Learning Center at 1200 W. Green Oaks Blvd.. received perfect scores for its kitchen.

Eight restaurants in the city passed follow-up inspections in this round.

Here are the inspection scores and violations for restaurants within the city limits of Arlington for the week of June 28th - July 2nd, 2021. A score of 100 is a perfect score and 70 is considered to be extremely poor. Reinspections will be conducted for restaurants that score 75 or less. If serious health and sanitation violations are considered an imminent health hazard, the restaurant will be closed until the identified health hazard has been mitigated.
