February health inspections show Fort Worth restaurants with most, least violations

An overview of restaurant health inspections in Fort Worth for the month of February shows several establishments were deemed to have violations, from the presence of unclean surfaces, to mold, to roaches.

There were also those restaurants that met all of the standards set by the City of Fort Worth.

The Star-Telegram compiled information on health inspections from the city into one easy-to-use database, where users can sort restaurants by number of violations as well as search for keywords. If a restaurant has more than 30 violations, management has to take immediate corrective action on all critical violations, and then has 48 hours to begin corrective actions on any remaining violations.

There were three restaurants in February that tied for the most violations, at 29: Taste of Asia at 12584 N. Beach St., Piranha Killer Sushi on West 3rd Street, and Hooked on Sushi on Bryant Irvin Road. The violations varied:

  • Taste of Asia was cited for problems including having a container of raw chicken above a bowl of vegetables in a walk-in cooler; allowing employees to use their cell phones then handle food with no hand-washing; and not making new hires take an accredited food handler course within seven days of their first day.
  • Piranha Killer Sushi was cited for problems including employees who didn’t limit their bare-handed contact with food; toxic substances that weren’t labeled properly; and floors and walls that weren’t clean.
