Travel and Leisure says this Fort Worth Stockyards hotel is the best in the DFW area
The best hotel in all of Dallas-Fort Worth is in Cowtown’s backyard.
For the second time, The Hotel Drover is the 2024 No. 1 favorite city hotel in the DFW metroplex, according to 186,000 Travel and Leisure magazine readers. The votes are based on location, rooms/facilities, service, food, and value, which ranked all categories from poor to excellent.
The boutique Stockyards hotel won guests hearts over with its cozy, ranch-like feel.
“Felt like the team invited me into their home and they took excellent care of everything we needed,” a T + L reader wrote in a review.
T+L compiled a list of the top five hotels in three different Texas cities: DFW, Houston, and Austin. Hotel Drover previously won this same title in 2022. Last year’s winner for DFW was Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, this year’s No. 2 spot.
Austin’s No. 1 hotel was the intimate Hotel Saint Cecilia, a 21-room oasis near South Congress in downtown. Houston’s favorite was the Lancaster Hotel, a boutique hotel that scored the highest out of all three city’s winners.
Lancaster Hotel’s score was 97.64 out of 100, while Hotel Saint Cecilia received a score of 96.25. Hotel Drover is the only Fort Worth hotel on the DFW list with a ranking of 93.62.

About Hotel Drover in Fort Worth
The Hotel Drover is a newer addition to Fort Worth, opening up in 2021 as the first built building in the redevelopment of the Historic Stockyards. The 200-room hotel is a part of the Autograph Collective, a private group of luxury hotels.
“Hotel Drover’s arrival in the Fort Worth Stockyards marked a pivotal moment, acting as a catalyst for the positive transformation this historic district has experienced,” says Craig Cavileer, Managing Partner of Stockyards Heritage Development Co., “We’re proud to have played a role in revitalizing this iconic destination, and this award simply fuels our enthusiasm for the upcoming second phase of development.”
Located at the end of Mule Alley, you walk into a cowboy oasis of leather and cowhide. Attention to detail in the artwork and decorations mean a lot to Drover guests, as some even remark they feel as though they are staying at a friend’s ranch.
Not only is there a plethora of shops, restaurants, and bars just steps away from this western wonderland but you can also be entertained by just staying on hotel grounds. The Drover offers a luxury pool, backyard patio with fire pits, and fitness center.
They also are pet friendly, allowing dogs up to 75 pounds for $150 per stay. Of course, your pooch will also receive a Drover branded bandana, dog beds, and their own concierge to arrange walks and grooming.
The Hotel Drover is located at 200 Mule Alley. Room prices vary, starting at $520 a night.
