Finding someone to watch your pooch is a pain. But also, finding a nice, pet-friendly hotel can be a gamble. USA Today compiled a list of the best pet-friendly hotels based on a panel of experts and readers’ opinions.
For those who live in Texas, you can take a little family road trip to the state capital. The Four Seasons Hotel in Austin ranks No. 10 for doggy destinations. This is the only Texas location on the list fit with pet beds, food and water bowls, and Four Seasons bandanas.
The No. 1 hotel for claws and paws is The Peabody Memphis in Tennessee, a luxury hotel with mallard ducks that wander around. Each hotel on the list has a unique set of amenities that cater to our furry friends.

This five-star hotel is located right along Austin’s Lady Bird Lake, with three acres of lawns for your four-legged guests to run wild. If that isn’t enough space, just a short walk away is a 10-mile hike and bike trail along the lake.
Austin is crawling with pet-friendly restaurants and activities. Though you would rarely need to leave your furry friend in the room, if you do there is a balcony for them to spread their legs.
The hotel also greets cats and dogs with homemade biscuits made by the hotel’s pastry team. You can bring your dog to a patio dinner on a leash at Ciclo’s, one of the hotel’s restaurants. Or, you can arrange a pet room service, where your pooch can enjoy a menu of gourmet meals.
Obviously, letting animals in a hotel comes with some guidelines, so here is everything you should know:
Four Seasons Austin allows cats, dogs, and other domestic animals.
If you are out of your room, pets must be kept on a leash.
Animals are allowed to be left unattended in the room; they must be well-trained and undisturbing.
Pets are not allowed inside The Spa, pool or any food service outlets, except the Ciclo patio.
Owners are, of course, responsible for any damage in the room or hotel that pets may cause.
The Four Seasons Austin is located at 98 San Jacinto Blvd. They are a five-star luxury hotel located downtown that offers rooms starting at $550 a night. They have a spa, pool, and multiple dining options. As well as access to local experiences like boot fittings or backstage passes for ACL, a local music festival.
