Dallas native cast in ‘Big Brother’ as season 28 premiere nears on CBS

One of the newest houseguests on “Big Brother” has a local tie.

CBS announced the cast of the show’s 28th season this week, including Dallas native Chuk Anyanwu. The 27-year-old has degrees from the University of North Texas and Texas Women’s University, and is currently working as a supply chain coordinator for Williams-Sonoma, Inc., according to his LinkedIn.

“Being on ‘Big Brother’ feels insane right now, because one, it does not feel real,” Anyanwu said in a promo video for the show. “There’s one end where there’s so much money that I could win and there’s a whole ‘nother end where I’m about to be in a house with insane people.”

For those not familiar with “Big Brother,” the reality series puts a group of people in a house under 24-hour surveillance as they battle against each other to take home a $750,000 cash prize.

This season’s theme is “time trip,” which will see houseguests enter a world where “rooms, relics and competitions transport them across moments in time, while early twists shake up the game from the start.”

In total, there are 14 houseguests this season, including Barrett Pfeiffer, a contestant that lives in Austin but is not from Texas. Anyanwu is the only houseguest with local ties.

“I also have an insane social game, I’m a first-generation immigrant, I truly feel like I can talk to anyone,” Anyanwu said in a show promo.

“Big Brother” season 28 kicks off with a 90-minute premiere on Thursday, July 9, followed by new episodes on Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The show airs on CBS and streams the next day on Paramount+.
