Two Fort Worth restaurants featured on WWE wrestler’s new USA Network show

It’s not every day that someone orders everything on the menu, but for two Fort Worth restaurants, that is exactly the case.

Angelo’s Barbecue and Wishbone & Flynt will appear on the new USA Network show “Everything on the Menu with Braun Strowman.” Both restaurants will be featured in the premiere episode, which debuts at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24.

The series follows former WWE wrestler Braun Strowman as he eats across America during wrestling tour stops.

Strowman’s Fort Worth visit came in late April, when the WWE stopped by Dickies Arena for Friday Night Smackdown. At the time of the event and the production of “Everything on the Menu,” Strowman was still employed by the WWE ahead of his release from the company in May.

In the Fort Worth episode, viewers will see Strowman chow down on barbecue from Angelo’s and several dishes from Wishbone & Flynt.

“The only way I’ll be able to pick a favorite here is to try them all,” Strowman said in a clip from Friday’s episode.

“Everything on the Menu” sees Strowman stop by two restaurants each episode, one for a lunch and another for dinner.

Angelo’s is the lunch stop and Strowman devoured ribs, brisket and more smoked meats, restaurant owner Jason George told the Star-Telegram. It was a tall order for the 6-foot-8-inch Strowman, who George calls a “huge” and “very friendly” man.

George said the show reached out a few months in advance about wanting to stop by.

While there, George recalls Strowman being cordial to staff and customers alike. He toured the dining room and kitchen, and even went behind the counter to cut a few slices of meat himself.

All in all, George said he was glad to have Strowman stop by the barbecue joint that has been in business since 1958.

“Makes us feel good,” George said.

Wishbone & Flynt is the dinner option for “Everything on the Menu.”

Restaurant manager Leigh Lowrance recounted a similar story about a show producer reaching out a few months in advance. The show was at the restaurant for two days, the first to capture video of each plate, and the second to actually film with Strowman.

This means that about 20 dishes were prepared twice over consecutive days, all while the restaurant was open for regular service.

“Anything for Braun,” Lowrance joked.

Speaking of food, Strowman ate an assortment of restaurant favorites: bone marrow, peanut butter and jelly wings, grilled octopus, short rib, pan-seared scallops and many more.

Some of Strowman’s favorites were the short rib, bone marrow and scallops, which he said was chef Jorge Olvera’s best dish. Olvera said he was not only happy to serve Strowman, but to speak with him about the food as well.

As Strowman polished off his last plate, Olvera mentioned dessert options, to no avail.

“He said, ‘No, I’m full already. I literally ate everything on the menu’,” Olvera said.

The restaurant will have the episode on during dinner service Friday night.

While part of being on the show is the restaurant footing the bill, Lowrance said it’s a fine tradeoff for the exposure Wishbone & Flynt will receive.

“I’m super excited,” she said. “To have it out there on national television watched around the world, the publicity for that, you can’t buy.”

“Everything on the Menu with Braun Strowman” premieres 9 p.m. Friday on USA Network.
