Rick’s Cabaret appears in latest ‘Landman’ episode. See all the Fort Worth references
The ninth episode of Taylor Sheridan’s “Landman” aired on Jan. 5, and contained a few references to Fort Worth.
“Landman” stars Billy Bob Thornton and is described as a “modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs.” The Paramount+ series premiered Nov. 17 and airs new episodes weekly on Sundays.
Since “Landman” was filmed in the Lone Star State and is set in West Texas and Fort Worth, viewers can expect in-house references in the series.
The series has mentioned Fort Worth’s Petroleum Club, TCU, Hotel Drover, Sundance Square Plaza and more. The seventh episode featured local Mexican restaurant Don Artemio.
Here’s a look at all the North Texas and Fort Worth references in the ninth episode, “WolfCamp.”
Texas Health Clearfork
The episode begins with Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) visiting his friend Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) at a Fort Worth hospital after the latter suffered a heart attack.
This scene was filmed outside Fort Worth’s Texas Health Clearfork, at 5400 Clearfork Main St.
The joint care facility is part of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest and is located near The Shops at Clearfork.
Rick’s Cabaret
Around six minutes in, Angela (Ali Larter) and Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) visit a Rick’s Cabaret strip club.
This scene was filmed at the Rick’s Cabaret in Fort Worth at 7101 Calmont Ave.
Rick’s is one of several clubs owned by Houston-based RCI Hospitality Holdings, Inc. Rick’s actually has two locations in Fort Worth. The other spot is located at 15000 Airport Freeway.
Jerry Jones
Around nine minutes in, Jerry Jones, a real-life billionaire, is seen giving a speech to TV billionaire Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) after the latter’s latest heart attack.
Jones is the owner of the Dallas Cowboys and is worth over $16 billion, according to Forbes.
While this is the first time Jones has appeared in a series created by “Landman” writer Taylor Sheridan, it isn’t the first time they’ve crossed paths. In the Cowboys 2023 schedule release video, Sheridan was sent the team’s calendar while Jones was sent scripts for the latest season of “Yellowstone.”
‘I can handle a spoon, Romo’
Around 30 minutes in, the Norris family is having dinner. Angela (Ali Larter) serves paella and informs the group that it’s eaten with wooden spoons and no plates.
Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) doesn’t take too kindly to the traditional dinner service and brings a stack of plates to the table. Around the same time, Ainsley’s (Michelle Randolph) high school quarterback boyfriend Ryder (Mitchell Slaggert) offers to scoop a bite of food on Tommy’s spoon.
“I can handle a spoon, Romo,” Tommy tells him.
“Romo” refers to former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. The four-time NFL Pro Bowler played for the Cowboys from 2003-2016 and is now a broadcaster for CBS Sports.
“Landman” airs its season finale on Paramount+ on Jan. 12.
