Army Field Band, Soldiers’ Chorus bringing patriotic-themed shows to North Texas
We might be months away from the Fourth of July but a jolt of patriotism is hitting North Texas.
The United States Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus is set to perform five shows in the area, including Saturday in Arlington and Tuesday at Bass Hall in Fort Worth. Shows are also scheduled for Friday in Denton, Sunday in Plano, and Monday in Dallas.
The free “America the Beautiful” concert slated for Arlington and Fort Worth is described as a “celebration of all there is to love about our nation,” according to a press release.
Saturday’s show at the Arlington ISD Center for Visual and Performing Arts at set for 7 p.m. The Tuesday performance at Bass Hall is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The spring tour is touted as exploring “the heart of the American spirit and honor the veterans of every generation who answered, and continue to answer, the call to defend this great land.”
The five North Texas performances will include three different themes. The Denton show is called “This We’ll Defend,” which tells the story of those who answered the call to service.
The Arlington, Plano and Fort Worth shows are called “America the Beautiful” and is a celebration of all there is to love about our nation with a “musical and visual journey across our country,” according to a release.
The Dallas theme called “Soundtrack of the American Soldier” is a “tribute to the stories of our military as told by Hollywood,” with selections from films such as “Saving Private Ryan” and “The Great Escape.”
The 60-member Army Field Band was founded in 1946. The 29-member Soldiers’ Chorus was founded in 1957.
