Cowboys and cowgirls packed up their gear following the recent three-week run of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, but that doesn’t mean rodeo season is over in North Texas.

In fact, it will take center stage again March 5-6 in Arlington when the premier event in rodeo teams up with a world renowned bull riding competition for an historic weekend of Western sports.

AT&T Stadium will host the PBR Global Cup on Saturday, March 5 followed by The American on Sunday, March 6.

The PBR Global Cup, scheduled to start at 5:45 p.m., features many of the world’s top bull riders in a team competition consisting of five countries: the United States, Mexico, Canada, Australia and Brazil.

As the host country, the U.S. will field two teams, the Eagles and Native American Wolves.

Come back on Sunday to watch The American, which offers one of the richest single-day rodeo payouts in the world with a total purse of $3 million this year.

Semifinal performances for The American will be held Tuesday-Friday this week at Cowtown Coliseum.

For tickets to both events, go to attstadium.com/events.

The American, which begins at noon Sunday, will also feature a performance by country music stars Faith Hill and Tim McGraw in between events of the championship round.

On Friday, Austin-based red dirt country group Shane Smith and the Saints will rev up the big weekend with a performance at 8 p.m. at Texas Live! Arena. For tickets, go to shanesmithmusic.com/tour.

Don’t forget to vote in Tuesday’s primary election

If you missed your chance to cast an early ballot in the Texas primary election, don’t worry.

You have one last chance to make that vote count on Super Tuesday, March 1. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in locations across Tarrant County and North Texas.

And the good news is that voters can expect much warmer conditions after this past week’s cold blast, with high temperatures Tuesday forecast in the mid 60s under partly cloudy skies.

Need a ride? Tarrant County voters can ride to the polls at no charge on Trinity Metro’s bus routes, ZIPZONE on-demand rideshare services, ACCESS paratransit, plus Tarrant County Transportation Services (TCTS), Northeast Transportation Services (NETS), and Arlington’s Via and Handitran.

Just show your voter registration card or ID and ride for free.

Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra plays ‘Music of John Williams’

Movie classics such as “Star Wars,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “Jaws” are also known for their signature soundtracks.

Now you can hear them come to life in person when the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra presents “The Music of John Williams,” Friday, March 4 through Sunday, March 6 at Ball Performance Hall.

The master composer, who is now 90 years old, has penned music for more than 100 films, including eight “Star Wars” movies, “Close Encounters of the Third King,” “E.T.” and the first three “Harry Potter” flicks.

Many of the soundtracks by Williams are among the most distinctive and inspiring to movie and music buffs. Renowned conductor Richard Kaufman will lead the orchestra in paying homage to one of the most respected composers in the industry.
