Tough break. Comedian Patton Oswalt postpones Texas shows in Austin, Dallas after injury
Usually the performer is told to break a leg just before he steps out on stage.
For veteran stand-up comedian Patton Oswalt, there was no such warning.
Oswalt, who turned 53 last week, announced in a video posted on social media late Thursday that his scheduled shows in Austin and Dallas on Friday and Saturday have been postponed after he broke his right foot in two places. The shows were part of his “Who’s Ready To Laugh” Tour.
Oswalt’s video showed him waiting for an X-ray in an Urgent Care facility.
“Hey guys, it’s Patton. Guess what? I broke my foot in two places at work today,” Oswalt said in the video post. “I am so sorry. We’re going to reschedule these. I’m going to honor everyone’s tickets … this sucks … Ugh. Be careful out there. Watch where you’re walking.”
He was set to play two shows at Austin’s Paramount Theatre Friday night and one show at the Majestic Theater in Dallas on Saturday. All three shows were nearly sold out as of early Friday morning.
The writer and actor with 4.5 million followers on Twitter, who starred in the films “Ratatouille,” “The Secret Life of Pets,” and “Young Adult,” said he’ll reschedule the shows as soon as possible and tickets will be honored at the makeup dates. You should contact the place of purchase if you’re unable to attend on the new dates.
