Presale tickets for Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ went on sale Tuesday with fans waiting for hours in long, virtual lines on Ticketmaster causing the website to go temporarily offline.
Complaints from fans elicited calls to action, including Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti calling for an investigation into what happened.
“Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti is concerned about consumer complaints related to @Ticketmaster. He and his Consumer Protection team will use every available tool to ensure that no consumer protection laws were violated,” Skrmetti’s office said in a tweet Wednesday.
On Thursday, Ticketmaster canceled the public ticket sale on Friday because of what the company said in a tweet were “extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory.”
However, Texas Swifties may have noticed that tickets for her ‘Eras Tour’ at AT&T Stadium were not through Ticketmaster, but SeatGeek, which had equally long wait times.
SeatGeek entered a partnership with the Dallas Cowboys in 2018 and since then has been the website to ticket all AT&T Stadium events, including Swift’s ‘Eras Tour.’
At the time, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said SeatGeek was a ticketing platform with the best technology to power “an incredible fan experience.”
Those who were selected for the Ticketmaster presale or who have a Capital One credit card can still use their presale codes on SeatGeek. You do not need to make a SeatGeek account to access your presale code or purchase tickets.
Swift will perform a setlist covering songs from her extensive discography on tour, stopping in Arlington on March 31, April 1 and 2.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday at 10 a.m.
