Finding ways to keep cool this summer will be paramount as its expected to be a very warm few months.
Luckily, there are plenty of places to cool off in Fort Worth and Arlington. Most pools are now open for the summer and some offer swimming lessons for youngsters looking to learn water safety.
There are also drowning prevention programs available for children 3 to 10 years old that serve as a starting point before diving into swimming lessons.
Either way, there will be plenty of fun at North Texas pools this summer.
Here is a list of city-owned pools in Fort Worth and Arlington:
Fort Worth
Forest Park Pool: Located near Texas Christian University, the pool offers residents plenty to do from a diving board, lap lanes and the ability to rent the pool for private events after hours. The pool is also the host location for swimming lessons.
- Hours: Thursday-Sunday (June 11- Aug. 14) from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m.; Weekends only on Aug. 20-21, Aug. 27-28 and Sept. 3-5
- Location: 2850 Park Place, Fort Worth 76110
- Cost: $5 for children 17 and under, $6 for adults and $4 for seniors or military with I.D.
Marine Park Pool and Aquatic Center: The pool is open just north of downtown Fort Worth. The park has an interactive playground with water cannons and a tipping bucket, along with plenty of seating and shade for parents looking to relax poolside.
- Hours: Thursday-Sunday (June 11- Aug. 14) from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m.; Weekends only on Aug. 20-21, Aug. 27-28 and Sept. 3-5
- Location: 303 N.W. 20th St., Fort Worth 76106
- Cost: $5 for children 17 and under, $6 for adults and $4 for seniors or military with I.D.
Arlington
Allen Bolden Outdoor pool: This pool is an L-shaped structure complete with concessions and six shade structures.
- Hours: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday (June 4- Aug. 6) from noon to 6 p.m.
- Location: 2800 S. Center St., Arlington 76014
- Cost: Free for children 12 months or younger, $3 for those under 48 inches and $3.50 for 48 inches and taller.
Bad Königshofen Family Aquatic Center: This pool opened in 2006 and offers families an interactive spray pad, shallow play water pool and two water slides.
- Hours: Monday, Thursday-Saturday (June 11- Aug. 7) from noon to 7 p.m., Aug. 8-12 from noon to 5 p.m., Aug. 13, 20 and 27 from noon to 5 p.m., Aug. 14, 21 and 28 from 1 to 5 p.m., Sept. 3 from noon to 5 p.m., Sept. 4 from 1 to 5 p.m. and Sept. 5 from 1 to 6 p.m.
- Location: 2800 W. Sublett Road, Arlington 76017
- Cost: Free for children 12 months or younger, $8 for those under 48 inches and $8.50 for 48 inches and taller.
Helen Wessler Play Pool: This pool is designed for children ages 7 and younger, but anyone is welcome to swing by for a bit of summer fun.
- Hours: Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. (June 11- Aug. 7)
- Location: 2200 Greenway St., Arlington 76010
- Cost: Free for children 12 months or younger, $2 for those under 48 inches and $2 for 48 inches and taller.
Howard Moore Play Pool: This pool includes an interactive water structure, family changing room, shade umbrellas and grassy areas.
- Hours: Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. (June 4- Aug. 5)
- Location: 1999 Bever Blvd., Arlington 76013
- Cost: Free for children 12 months or younger, $3 for those under 48 inches and $3.50 for 48 inches and taller.
Randol Mill Family Aquatic Center: This facility has fun for the whole family from vortex pools and water slides to tot and leisure areas.
- Hours: Monday from 2 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday-Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. (June 4- Aug. 7), Aug. 8-12 from noon to 5 p.m., Aug. 13, 20 and 27 from noon to 5 p.m., Aug. 14, 21 and 28 from 1 to 5 p.m., Sept. 3 from noon to 5 p.m., Sept. 4 from 1 to 5 p.m. and Sept. 5 from 1 to 6 p.m.

Woodland West outdoor pool: This pool hosts swimming lessons and has plenty of shady areas for families looking to relax by the water.
- Hours: Wednesday and Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. (June 5- Aug. 7)
- Location: 3200 Norwood Lane, Arlington 76013
- Cost: Free for children 12 months or younger, $3 for those under 48 inches and $3.50 for 48 inches and taller.
