“Shades: Colors Of The Soul” features six women performing original spoken word and performance poems. They’ll share stories of empowerment, laughter and triumph. Celebrate the art of creative self-expression at the Grand Prairie recreation center.

Create Arlington is hosting an open mic night celebrating Women’s History Month. Share your poetry, art and music in a safe space, and watch DFW poet Alicia Azahar perform. “Words are powerful and it’s up to us to use them for good,” the event description reads.
Attend a workshop by and for women of the African diaspora
Discover poetry written by and for women of the African diaspora in this free 90-minute workshop. You’ll learn more about the writing styles of Alice Walker and Nikki Giovanni, and create your own works of poetry.
Visit a Women’s Health Expo
In honor of Women’s History Month, the National Multicultural Western Heritage Museum is having a free health expo for the community.
Listen to a panel discussion on resiliency
A panel of Black female frontline workers will discuss providing healing and promoting hope. The event will feature the CEO of JPS Health, Dr. Karen Duncan, who is the first woman and first Black person to be appointed to her role. Brunch will be served during the event.
Learn about the tales of Texas women
As part of the Dallas Public Library’s month-long Women’s History Month programming, attend a theater experience showcasing the untold stories of Texan women. Join storytellers Gene and Peggy Helmick-Richardson from Twice Upon a Time Storytellers as they present the real history of North Texas women and their incredible journeys. Attend the regional premiere of “We Are The Ones” by Marie Claire Saindon, a set of music by Rosephanye Powell — including popular women’s anthem “Still I Rise” — and other songs by Gwyneth Walker, Abbie Betinis, Andrea Ramsey and Elaine Hagenberg. The one-act concert of women composers is hosted by The Women’s Chorus of Dallas.
