In 2010, Galentine’s Day debuted in an episode of the NBC sitcom “Parks and Recreation.” Since then, it’s become a real thing — a special occasion when women celebrate their female friendships, a day before celebrating romantic love on Valentine’s Day.
“Every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it breakfast style. Ladies celebrating ladies,” actress Amy Poehler’s character, Leslie Knope, said on the show. “It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”
Whether or not you’re in a relationship, take a day to show your girlfriends some love, too.
