Family dog mauls little girl to death in a south Fort Worth backyard, authorities say

A dog mauled to death a 4-year-old girl on Friday afternoon in the backyard of a house in south Fort Worth, authorities said.

Elayah Brown was attacked about 5 p.m. in the 1400 block of Oak Grove Road, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office said. She died at Cook Children’s Medical Center.

Fort Worth animal care and control took custody of the dog.

Police did not describe the circumstances of the attack. A police spokesman said that a family dog mauled Brown.

“Anytime there is a loss of life, it’s a tragic incident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and all first responders that responded to this call,” Fort Worth police Chief Neil Noakes wrote in a statement.
