Dez Bryant: Dak's our quarterback, stop asking about Tony Romo

Dallas Cowboys Dez Bryant had a great relationship with Tony Romo. He liked playing with him for his first seven seasons in the league.

But Bryant has moved on and grew tired of multiple questions about Romo during an interview after Monday’s first training camp practice. Bryant made it clear that Dak Prescott has taken the reigns of this team.

“I can’t keep talking about that," Bryant said. "Dak's my quarterback. It's no disrespect because I love that guy, but I can't keep answering that question. I'm sorry."

Romo, 37, walked away from the game this off-season and into the CBS Sports broadcast booth. A departure from the Cowboys was inevitable for Romo after Prescott replaced him as the starter last season.

Bryant had nothing but good things to say about Prescott, and is ready to see what he does in his second year.

"The guy is a monster," Bryant said. "I'm not trying to put a lot of pressure on him, I'm just calling it how I see it. It can only get better for him. The guys around here support him. We love him. We want to see him do great.

“When you got guys like that supporting you, how can you not do good? We're just going to keep standing behind him and want to see him do good. He's our leader and we're going to follow."

Bryant expects his production to improve, too, with a year under his belt of working with Prescott. Bryant failed to reach the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the second consecutive season last year.

He finished with 50 catches for 796 yards and eight touchdowns in 13 games.

“We’re [Bryant and Prescott] going to forever get better,” Bryant said. “When we screw up, Dak is the first to say, ‘Hey, let’s do that over.’ That’s what I love about him because he wants it and it makes me want it even more.

“We have no choice but to get better. When it’s all said and done, we’re already dominant – just going to be a force to be reckoned with.”
