Rangers aren’t just winning in the standings, TV ratings on rise, too
The Rangers’ wins are not the only thing on the rise. Their television ratings are blowing up, too.
Thursday’s series-sweeping win against the Houston Astros was the highest-rated Rangers games on FOX Sports Southwest with a 6.04 rating according to Nielsen Media Research.
It’s the third consecutive night the Rangers-Astros games set a new season-high. Wednesday’s game drew a 5.47 and Tuesday’s game drew a 5.34. Monday’s series opener had a 4.37 rating, ninth best of the season at the time.
Among the ratings highlights from Thursday’s game, according to FOX:
▪ It was the highest-rated Rangers game on FOX Sports Southwest since Aug. 21, 2013 when the Rangers completed a three-game sweep of the Astros and scored a 6.8 rating.
▪ An average of 157,300 TV homes in Dallas-Fort Worth watched Thursday’s game.
▪ It was the second most-watched program of the day in Dallas-Fort Worth behind CBS’ Denver Broncos-Kansas City Chiefs Thursday Night NFL game, which notched a preliminary 10.1 rating from 7:30-10:00 p.m. on KTVT.
▪ The four-game series sweep averaged a 5.3 rating and increased the team’s season’s rating average on FOX Sports Southwest to 2.96.
