Shortsighted: Rangers Mike Napoli has Texas wearing ‘Never Ever Quit’ mantra in style
Mike Napoli brought 13 home runs with him when he came over from the Boston Red Sox in a trade last month.
He also brought some nice threads to the Rangers’ clubhouse.
The entire team was wearing shorts Napoli had made before Tuesday’s 6-5 walk-off win over the Houston Astros. The win vaulted Texas into first place in the American League West, a half-game ahead of Houston.
Game 3 of the four-game series is at 7:05 tonight at Globe Life Park.
While with the Red Sox, Napoli and his Boston teammates all wore similar pregame shorts to show solidarity with Boston Marathon bombing victims and to support a child suffering from Leukemia.
The mixed martial arts-style shorts Napoli gave to the Rangers sport the same American flag design, but also include the team’s ‘Never, Ever Quit’ mantra, which originated from manager Jeff Banister, who uses it as a mission statement for life.
Most recently, he used it to cheer on the Dallas Cowboys’ last-second victory Sunday night at AT&T Stadium.
Love the Never Ever Quit Cowboy's!

“He's been wearing his Boston ones around and nobody said anything, because they’ve got the American flag on them, so we know where he’s going there,” Rangers catcher Chris Gimenez told MLB.com. “He said he was having them all made for us with our slogan, and I think it’s solid. Everybody’s wearing them and it’s like the greatest thing, ever.”
After Tuesday’s comeback win, the Rangers’ second in a row, the shorts may be an everyday ritual.
