Left-hander Cole Hamels has been named the Texas Rangers pitcher of the year by the the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Hamels was 15-5 with a 3.32 ERA in 32 starts in 2016, his first full season with the Rangers. He ranked among the American League leaders in winning percentage, strikeouts, ERA and wins.

He will be honored Jan. 20 at the Rangers Awards Dinner at Gilley’s Dallas. Tickets, which cost $100, are available at texasrangers.com/awards.
