Mansfield Legacy cruises past Kimball in the area round

Jalen Catalon tossed three first-quarter touchdowns to help lead Mansfield Legacy to a 66-7 win over Dallas Kimball in the 5A Division II area round at John Kincaide Stadium. The Broncos outscored the Knights 38-0 in the first half and went unblemished aside from giving up a kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter. Legacy averaged less than three plays over the course of four scoring drives between the first and second quarter and held the Knights to 26 yards of offense during the run. Legacy’s offense out-performed Kimball 593 yards to 138.
Key players: Legacy junior quarterback Jalen Catalon finished with three touchdowns in the air on 7-of-9 passing for 136 yards. Legacy senior running back Isaiah Jones finished with 131 yards on 17 carries and a touchdown. Legacy junior wide receiver Nathan Rooney had two touchdowns on four catches and 84 yards.
Key stat: Legacy punted just once, in the fourth quarter, while Kimball was forced to punt six times. The Knights also gave up three turnovers.
