Lake Ridge steamrolls Dallas Adams to advance to Round 3

Senior quarterback Jason Bean threw for three first-half touchdowns, and teammate Cartraven Walker ran for three of his own, as the Eagles routed the Cougars in a 5A Division I game at the Gopher-Warrior Bowl. Bean connected on scores of 6, one and 58 yards, while Walker’s touchdown runs were of seven, 49 and 28 yards, respectively. Mansfield Lake Ridge will meet Prosper or Mesquite Poteet in the regional round. Lake Ridge wide receiver Malik Knowles had five receptions for 63 yards, with touchdown catches of one and six yards.

Key players: Bean passed for 154 yards and the three scores all by intermission. Walker had touchdown runs of seven, 49 and 28 yards, also in the first half. Bean found Knowles for the six-yard score to give Lake Ridge the early 7-0 lead before Walker’s first score made it 14-0. Knowles’ second score came shortly thereafter, before Walker had his second score, giving Lake Ridge a 28-0 first-quarter lead. Before the quarter would end though, Bean found wide receiver Deven Langston on a 58-yard strike to stake the Eagles to a 35-0 advantage.

Key stat: The Eagles have won 11 consecutive games. Lake Ridge had 547 yards of offense, limiting the Cougars to 184.
