Summit’s rushers have a big night as the Jags down Timberview

Mansfield Summit 41, Mansfield Timberview 14

Summit stormed back from a 7-0 deficit to rout rival Timberview and take the final playoff spot in District 10-5A at Vernon Newsom Stadium. The Jaguars will face Crowley in the Class 5A Division I bi-district round at Clark Stadium in Fort Worth on Friday, kickoff time to be announced.

Key players: Summit’s Richard Chark ran for 135 yards and four touchdowns, and backfield mate Bryce Nyumah had 100 yards and a 53-yard scoring run. Brysen McKinney ran for 85 yards and a touchdown and threw for 113 yards. Stacy Steed rushed for 81 yards for Timberview.

Key statistic: Summit punted twice to start the game and then scored on six of its next eight drives. To little avail, Timberview used five quarterbacks in the game and finished with 119 yards passing. The Wolves struck first on Jalen Knox’s 23-yard run but couldn’t get much going from there.

Records: Summit 6-4, 4-3 District 10-5A; Timberview 3-7, 2-5
