Lake Country girls capture TAPPS 3A title 54-48

Why Lake Country won: The Eagles, No. 5 in the state coaches’ poll, built a 13-point lead at the end of the third quarter and held off No. 8 Beaumont Christian in the TAPPS Class 3A state championship game.

Key players: Laci Hawthorne had 28 points and 16 rebounds for Lake Country. Alexus Jones added 14 points and Jasmine Chambers had 10 points and nine rebounds. Alexis Morris led the Warriors with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and five steals.
