Steve Lineweaver named interim football coach at Mansfield; Terry Cron at Summit
Seeking replacements, Mansfield has named former Euless Trinity coach Steve Lineweaver as interim coach, while Mansfield Summit has tapped former Mansfield Timberview coach Terry Cron in the same capacity.
Jeff Hulme, who led Mansfield to the Class 6A state semifinals last season, was hired at Waco Midway last week. Travis Pride left Summit last month for Trophy Club Nelson.
Lineweaver and Cron are expected to be at Mansfield and Summit for the next five to six weeks, but it is unclear whether they will remain with the programs long-term.
In 22 years as head coach, Lineweaver (259-43-2) won four state titles, three at Trinity, one with Commerce. He was head coach at Trinity from 2000-14, going 176-29 with titles in 2005, 2007 and 2009.
Cron, who retired from Timberview in 2009, won state titles with Mart (2A), Commerce (3A) and Bartlett (A). His career record was 175-94-3 over 22 years.
