What they said

“He is just one of those guys, there is always something else to be impressed by. He has always used the whole field to hit, but now he is learning how to get the barrel out a little bit. Now he is learning count leverage and when he can get to a ball. That becomes a scary thing, a guy that doesn’t chase pitches and uses the whole field to hit. That is why he is the Freshmen of the Year in the league and a guy that, barring injury, will be an outstanding major league player.”

-- TCU coach Jim Schlossnagle, on Luken Baker

I thought it was a good test for our team because that can happen in a regional. It is really important that we showed the ability that we can come back from a really tough loss.

TCU pitcher Brian Howard

“That is really fun team to play against, to compete with; they never give up any pitches. I thought it was a fun day of baseball. The first one did not go our way, but I thought we came back with a little bit different attitude and a different mindset. I thought it was a good test for our team because that can happen in a regional. It is really important that we showed the ability that we can come back from a really tough loss.”

-- TCU pitcher Brian Howard

“He has been swinging a good bat all week. Those guys are going to score runs on you, but you know what? We can swing it, too. If we can get some guys on, something like that can happen at a ballpark like this for us. I don’t think it took the wind out of our sails at all. I think we tried as hard as we could to battle back.”

-- Texas first baseman Kacy Clemens on Luken Baker’s home run
