JUCO linebacker Horton won’t enroll for spring at TCU
Linebacker Tyree Horton won’t enroll at TCU for the spring semester as planned, according to a TCU source.
Horton was one of five junior college players who signed a letter of intent in December. The others — receiver Taj Williams, cornerback Markell Simmons, defensive end Mat Boesen and offensive tackle Chris Gaynor — are on campus, TCU spokesman Mark Cohen said.
He said also on campus are four high school early signees — receiver Isaiah Graham, tight end Artayvious Lynn, quarterback Brennan Wooten and running back Sewo Olonilua — plus LSU transfer receiver John Diarse.
The TCU source who spoke on condition of anonymity said no reason has been provided for Horton not making it to campus. He is a 6-foot, 225-pound linebacker who played at Highland (Kan.) Community College last season, ranked No. 1 at his position among junior college players by 247Sports.
Monday was the first day of classes at TCU.
Spring football practices are scheduled to begin Feb. 27.
