Ranked TCU women’s hoops not projected to make NCAA Tournament?
Despite winning six straight games, which includes victories over the No. 7 and No. 15 teams in the country, TCU women’s basketball would be left out of the NCAA Tournament if it started today, according to ESPN’s Charlie Creme.
No. 22 TCU is one of Creme’s “First four out” in his latest Bracketology projections, which were updated Monday morning.
The Frogs (15-5) are third in the Big 12 right now with a 6-3 record, having won six straight for the first time since 2010-11. The streak started on Jan. 7 with a 19-point win over Texas Tech, which was followed by a two-point upset of No. 7 Texas and a 76-74 overtime win at No. 15 West Virginia.
TCU also defeated Kansas (76-66), beat Kansas State 68-63 in Manhattan, Kan., and took care of Oklahoma 62-58 in Fort Worth on Saturday. The victory over the Sooners was the Frogs’ first in 8 tries against OU.
Oklahoma State, which has an identical record as TCU, is projected as a 9-seed in the Albany Region, per Creme. Texas is projected as a3-seed in the same region. WVU is projected as a 6-seed in the Lexington Region. Baylor is tabbed as a 2-seed in the Kansas City Region.
Raegan Pebley’s program will look to boost its resume on Tuesday when it takes on Iowa State in Ames at 6: 30 p.m. The Cyclones have lost their last four home games.
