Hello, Shawn Robinson. TCU’s true freshman quarterback, who made his first-career start Saturday against Texas Tech, quickly showed off why he was a coveted four-star recruit across the nation out of DeSoto.
On the Horned Frogs’ first possession at Jones AT&T Stadium, Robinson ran the ball four times for 68 yards. Kenny Hill, who did not start because of a concussion, has rushed for 194 yards in 10 games.
Robinson is the first true freshman quarterback to start a game at TCU since 1999.
TCU took a 7-3 lead by capping a 10-play, 63-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run by KaVontae Turpin in the opening minute of the second quarter.
Robinson had a nasty stiff arm at the line of scrimmage to break away for a long run. Later in the drive he busted through for a 41-yard run.
