Eddie Smith, a three-star cornerback from Slidell (La.) Salmen, is the ninth commitment to TCU’s football class of 2018.

The 6-foot, 172-pounder announced his commitment to TCU via Twitter on Friday.

Scout.com ranks Smith as the No. 3 cornerback in the state of Louisiana’s 2018 recruiting class.

Louisiana wide receiver John Stephens Jr., son of the late New England Patriots running back, committed to TCU on Thursday.

Scout reported that the Louisiana run began with the commitment of 4-star quarterback Justin Rogers of Bossier City Parkway on May 31. Monroe Richwood safety HiDari Ceasar committed earlier this month.

Smith again seems to fit the TCU mold of many of its recruits: Starts out low on the radar, TCU offers him a scholarship, more offers follow.

Scout reported that Smith’s top 10 included Louisville, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Oregon State, Tennessee and Texas Tech.
