TCU’s Davis on college football Hall of Fame ballot
Former TCU running back Kenneth Davis, who finished fifth in balloting for the 1984 Heisman Trophy, is one of the candidates on the ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame’s 2018 induction class.
The list of candidates, released Thursday, also includes former Texas football coach Mack Brown and former Texas A&M defensive lineman Jacob Green. A total of 75 players and six coaches are on the ballot. The 2018 inductees will be announced before the College Football Playoff championship game in Atlanta on Jan. 8, 2018.
Davis, who rushed for 2,994 yards and 24 touchdowns in his TCU career, played nine seasons in the NFL and was part of four Super Bowl teams with the Buffalo Bills.
Brown, on the Hall of Fame ballot for the first time, compiled a career record of 244-122-1 in 30 seasons as a college coach. He spent his final 16 seasons at Texas, leading the Longhorns to a mark of 158-48 (.767 winning pct.) and a national championship in 2005.
Green still owns A&M’s single-season sack record (20), set in 1979. He earned first-team All-America honors in 1978 and 1979 before a standout NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks.
