The 6-foot-3, 286-pound Lanz is the sixth commitment to TCU’s 2018 recruiting class, #CarterBoys18, and the third offensive lineman. A left tackle at Guyer and listed at guard as a college recruit, Lanz was All-District 6-6A and honorable mention all-state, according to his Twitter page.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Lanz is ranked as the No. 12 center in the nation and No. 100 overal player in Texas.
According to 247Sports Composite, Lanz had offers from TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech, SMU, Houston, Colorado, and Arizona State among others.
Proximity to his home and the physical style of play, with techniques taught by new Frogs offensive line coach Chris Thomsen what he used at Guyer, led him to choose TCU, Lanz told 247Sports.
The Horned Frogs’ other commitments for 2018 are South Grand Prairie safety Atanza Vongor, a four-star recruit, and four other three-star recruits: offensive linemen Devin Phillips of Neville High School in Monroe, La., and Esteban Avila of South Grand Prairie; defensive end Ochaun Mathis of Manor; and cornerback Trevon Moehrig-Woodard of Smithson Valley.
