TCU lands five honorees on All-Big 12 football team
TCU landed five players on the Associated Press’ All-Big 12 football team announced Tuesday, including one first-teamer: linebacker Travin Howard, the league’s leading tackler (125 total, 10.4 per game).
Four other TCU defenders earned second-team status from voters: defensive end Josh Carraway, defensive tackle Aaron Curry, cornerback Ranthony Texada and safety Denzel Johnson.
No. 7 Oklahoma (10-2, 9-0 in Big 12), the league champion, paced the squad with seven first-team selections and two individual honorees. Receiver Dede Westbrook was selected as the offensive player of the year and Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops received coach of the year honors.
Defensive player of the year honors went to Kansas State defensive end Jordan Willis. Oklahoma State running back Justice Hill, a freshman who rushed for more than 1,000 yards, was selected as the newcomer of the year.
