Players to watch in today’s Cowboys-Redskins game

RB Felix Jones: As previously mentioned, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants to see the second-year running back carrying the football. Does the owner get what the owner wants? Now it’s up to offensive coordinator Jason Garrett to refrain from getting too pass-happy and sticking with the run long enough to establish an attitude up front and soften things up to potentially spring Jones for one of those spectacular long gains.

Scouting the Redskins

Remade offensive line: Center Casey Rabach is the only familiar face from a year ago. Left tackle Chris Samuels, who would normally go up against DeMarcus Ware, is on injured reserve, giving way to Levi Jones, who got his first start with Washington last week. Chad Rinehart made his return at right guard from a four-game benching. The line came up big against Denver, overpowering the Broncos’ defensive front to help backup running back Ladell Betts rack up 114 yards and a touchdown, including 93 yards on 17 carries in the final 24 minutes.

Five things to watch

1Run, Cowboys, run Wade Phillips and Jerry Jones this week called for a more balanced offensive approach and for Felix Jones to become more involved in the game plan. The second-year running back has had just seven carries for 16 yards over the past two games and no receptions. Easily the most dangerous of the team’s three backs, Jones can only hope offensive coordinator Jason Garrett draws something up to get him and the rest of the drifting running game, once No. 1 in the NFL and now No. 8, back on the move.
