A gas plant fire in Wise County forced home evacuations early Thursday morning, according to CBS-11, but no injuries have been reported.
The fire began around 2 a.m. at the Targa Gas Plant near the intersection of county roads 1745 and 1810, about 20 miles northwest of Decatur. Three workers were at the plant when the fire occurred, according to CBS.
“It is a natural gas facility. Anytime you have a fire, we take that seriously,” Jimmy Oxford, a Targa Gas Plant spokesperson, told the station. “We have activated our emergency shut down and our emergency response plan, and our plan is to let the fire burn out.”
