Body found in river near Z Boaz Park identified as Fort Worth man, authorities say

The body of a man was found Thursday morning in a river in southwest Fort Worth, according to police.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Darren Stroud, 47, of Fort Worth. The cause and manner of his death have not yet been determined.

A caller told police at around 11:30 a.m. that they were on their lunch break while doing lawn care work when they saw the body in Mary’s Creek, which branches off the Trinity River, in the 5200 block of Old Benbrook Road.

MedStar and the fire department were notified and recovered the body.

The Fort Worth Police Department is handling the investigation.
