Wesleyan team heading to nationals
Texas Wesleyan University’s table tennis team won both the men and women’s singles titles in the National Collegiate Table Tennis Association South Regional Tournament on Sunday, bringing the team a chance to win the national title 12 times in a row.
The Wesleyan Rams won both the coed and women’s team titles Saturday, which earned both squads automatic bids to the NCTTA Collegiate National Championship tournament in Eau Claire, Wis., in April.
Education graduate student Anastasia Rybka won the women's title, and business sophomore Emil Santos won the men’s title.
Teams from Texas and across the Southeast competed Saturday and Sunday at Wesleyan’s Sid Richardson Center.
Wesleyan’s table tennis team has won 55 national championships since the program started in 2002.
