Man who jumped into Joe Pool Lake identified
A man who died after jumping off a Grand Prairie bridge into Joe Pool Lake on Saturday has been identified as Coney Hewitt, 41.
Hewitt was pronounced dead at 5:14 p.m. after he was found in the water, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.
Grand Prairie police got a call at 7:30 a.m. Saturday from a driver who saw Hewitt leave his vehicle in the 5700 block of Lake Ridge Parkway and jump into the lake, according to Grand Prairie police.
A dive team started searching for Hewitt, whose body was found 4:30 p.m., according to Texas game warden Lt. Lance May.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
The cause of death was not listed Sunday evening.
