Woman fatally shot in her Arlington home; husband arrested
Police arrested a 40-year-old Arlington man on suspicion of murder early Saturday when he drove by his home while they were there investigating the shooting death of his wife.
Ghufran Zafar was in the Arlington Jail on Saturday night awaiting arraignment by a magistrate, when the bail amount will be set, police said.
The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Asma Zafar, 33, of 5706 Chelmsford Trail. She had been shot in the head.
Police responded to a 911 call for assistance at about 1:15 a.m. and found the woman dead.
“The suspect had left the residence prior to the officers’ arrival,” police said in a news release. “As officers were still processing the scene, the suspect drove near the residence and was taken into custody without incident.”
Police believe that the shooting was related to a domestic dispute.
