Dallas police have video of Johnny Manziel altercation
Police checked in with media Saturday with a brief statement about the investigation into Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel, a suspect in a domestic violence assault.
Police are still investigating, and that’s about it.
The Dallas Police Department called the news conference late Saturday morning to read the prepared statement and answer a few questions. Maj. Midge Boyle ended the conference two minutes after it began.
Manziel, a former Texas A&M star, is accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley of Fort Worth, in an Uptown Dallas hotel room and as he drove her from Dallas to her Fort Worth apartment during an argument about another woman.
During the overnight hours of Jan. 29 and 30, Crowley has said Manziel slapped her ear, causing her eardrum to rupture. She has said he forced her into a car, hit her, dragged her by her hair and threatened to kill them both while driving that night, according to reports.
After the they arrived at her apartment, Fort Worth police responded to a call and spoke to her, and she was concerned about Manziel’s well-being. Manziel wasn’t answering his phone, and police used a helicopter to search for him that night before determining he was safe.
Almost a week later, Dallas police relaunched their investigation into the incident.
On Saturday, Boyle told reporters that detectives are still investigating, and have obtained medical records from Corwley and surveillance video footage, but little other information was made available.
Boyle said Dallas PD has not spoken to Manziel yet, and as of Saturday, there’s been no determination as to what charge, if any, will be brought against Manziel.
Dallas police told The Dallas Morning News on Friday that they hope to finish the investigation by the end of next week.
