Crowley boy, 9, reported possible suicide at home where 4 found dead

Police found four members of a Crowley family dead in a home Sunday after a 9-year-old boy at the address called a female relative, who then reported a possible suicide.

Officers found the bodies of two women, a man and a girl younger than 15 with “obvious signs of trauma” just after 4 p.m. Sunday at the home in the 200 block of Kennedy Drive, Police Chief Luis Soler said at a news conference Sunday night.

“It looks like a family unit. I’m not sure what affinity they have with each other,” Soler said. He said names were not released pending notification of their relatives.

The boy, who was uninjured, was in protective custody and being interviewed late Sunday, Soler said. Other family members have come forward to be with him as investigators talk to him, said officer C.C. Meadows, a police spokeswoman.

“What exactly the child saw is under investigation,” Meadows said.

Soler assured residents that they were safe.

“All indications are that this is an isolated incident; there is no indication at this point there's anybody we ought to be looking for,” he said.

Soler said at about 8 p.m. Sunday that it was too early to comment on the causes of death, as police were awaiting the Tarrant County medical examiner’s determination. He would not elaborate on the nature of the trauma or who may have been the assailant.

“At this point we don’t want to call it a murder-suicide yet,” Soler said. “We are still working the scene.”

The initial call from the female relative came from a location other than the home, and was made at about 4:15 p.m., Soler said. Meadows said the boy told the relative that one of the adults had committed suicide.

Officers arrived at the house four minutes later and found the bodies, Soler said.

Police said they have no record of previous problems at the home.

“We are probably going to be there all night until we can get more answers,” Soler said.

An officer at the news conference said he couldn’t recall a similar multiple-death investigation in Crowley, a city of about 14,100, in his 18 years on the force.
