Teen killed in Arlington shooting is identified

The 19-year-old who was fatally shot in a residential neighborhood Wednesday has been identified as Michael Jackson of Arlington.

Jackson was shot inside a car on the 1000 block of Tabasco Trail a mile from his home, according to public records.

Another person in the car, an unidentified 18-year-old, was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police are looking for an older model gold Ford Taurus that may have been involved.

The shooting call was received about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, police said. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area.

A car drove up to Jackson’s vehicle and someone inside opened fire, hitting Jackson and the 18-year-old, police said. A third person in the victim’s vehicle was not hit, police said.

Police said they were continuing to talk to witnesses Thursday night.

The two shooting victims were driven to First Choice Emergency Room in the 8000 block of Matlock Road. One of the men was then taken to Medical Center of Arlington where he died, police said. The other was taken to the Fort Worth hospital.

No arrest had been reported by late Thursday.
