Cops find gun, ammunition in Arlington teen’s binder at school

A 15-year-old Arlington boy was arrested Thursday after officers found a handgun and ammunition in his binder at school, police said in a news release.

Sam Houston High School resource officers were told that the teen had a gun in his backpack, and they quickly found him and searched the backpack, according to police spokesman Christopher Cook.

The boy faces a charge of carrying a weapon in a place where they are prohibited, a third-degree felony. He was in the juvenile detention center Thursday night, Cook said.

As of Thursday evening, police were unsure of the boy’s motive.
