Southwest details nine new destinations out of Love Field
With two additional gates at Dallas Love Field, Southwest Airlines plans to add 13 daily flights to nine new destinations in April.
The Dallas-based carrier said Thursday it will begin flights to Columbus, Indianapolis, Memphis, Milwaukee, Portland, Ore., Sacramento, San Jose., Calif. and Seattle/Tacoma on April 8. Saturday-only flights to Charleston, S.C., will begin on April 11.
“With these new flights, Southwest is offering more of the low-fare nonstop travel our Dallas customers want, at the times of day that make the most sense to connect them to what’s important in their lives,” Southwest chief executive Gary Kelly said in a statement.
The additions come after Southwest struck a deal with United Airlines to obtain two gates from United at Love Field two weeks ago. At that time, Southwest said it planned to add nine destinations but didn’t name them all.
With the new flights, Southwest will have 166 daily flights at Dallas Love Field.
Prior to the expiration of the Wright Amendment in October, which limited airlines the ability to fly long-haul routes out of Love, Southwest operated around 120 daily flights.
The carrier will also begin offering daily flights to Panama City Beach from Dallas on April 8. Previously, the route was operated on Saturdays only. Southwest is also increasing flights to Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood, Oakland and Santa Ana/Orange County.
