Leon Bridges’ Squarespace ad to air during Grammys
Keep your eyes peeled for Leon Bridges during Monday’s broadcast of the 58th annual Grammys.
While he isn’t scheduled to appear on the actual telecast, Bridges will, as I noted last night, anchor a new, 60-second commercial, viewable below, for content management system Squarespace. (That’s not to say the Crowley-raised singer-songwriter will necessarily go home empty-handed: Bridges is nominated for best R&B album.)
The ad, titled “Leon’s Journey,” was partially filmed in Fort Worth — there is a brief glimpse of Bridges performing at Magnolia Motor Lounge, and scenes of Bridges and vocalist Brittni Jessie singing inside Shipping & Receiving — and was shot by music photographer and film director Danny Clinch.
The ad campaign, conceived by Austin-based agency Preacher, includes a 30-second version of “Journey,” which will air nationally on Monday, along with the 60-second version and 15-second version.
According to a statement, there’s also a short documentary about Bridges’ rise to fame, This is Home, set to be shown at festivals throughout 2016. Additionally, Bridges’ former employer, Del Frisco’s Grille, will be showing the Grammys broadcast as it airs in its Fort Worth location, and promoting their connection to Bridges on social media, according to a spokesperson for the restaurant.
After the Grammys, Bridges begins a national tour next month, with his next DFW appearance set for Sept. 18 at Dallas’ Music Hall at Fair Park.
