Dallas Cowboys legend calls team’s business priorities ‘distraction’ for players
Darren Woodson can say whatever he wants because he’s Darren Woodson, and the Dallas Cowboys won’t, and should not, do a thing other than say, “You’re welcome any time.”
The member of the team’s Ring of Honor attended an event that honored former Dallas Mavericks coach Don Nelson on Monday night at Gilley’s in Dallas; Woodson was there with former teammate Troy Aikman, and Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki, among others.
Woodson played for the Cowboys from 1992 to 2003, and was one of their best defensive players during their dynasty era. Since retiring, he’s done some broadcasting, and now spends more of his time in commercial real estate.
Woodson, 57, stopped to visit with the media, and he brought up how often in his career with the Cowboys he saw firsthand how much the franchise prioritizes weaving the business of the team with the business of the game.
I asked him if that priority was a distraction for the players.
