Watch: Fight breaks out at AT&T Stadium during CONCACAF Nations League final

The U.S. Men’s National Soccer team defeated Mexico 2-0 in the CONCACAF Nations League final on Sunday at AT&T Stadium.

The match was marred by a fight that took place in the stands and by multiple stoppages due to discriminatory chants.

The cause of the fight was unknown. It was captured on video by onlookers at the match and was uploaded on X, formerly Twitter.

Both stoppages were due to homophobic chants from the crowd.

The game was called off with about four minutes left due to the unceasing nature of the chants, which have been a repetitive problem at Mexico’s games and prompted this post for the team’s account on X in June of 2021.

After the match CONCACAF issued a statement decrying the chants.

“Security staff in the stadium identified and ejected a significant number of fans, and the referee and match officials activated the FIFA protocol. It is extremely disappointing that this matter continues to be an issue at some matches.”

With Sunday’s win, the U.S. captured its third CONCACAF Nations League Final in a row.
