Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF faced off against FC Dallas on Sunday at Toyota Stadium in Frisco.
Messi, one of the greatest players in the history of soccer, has taken the MLS by storm since he joined Inter Miami CF on July 15.
It didn’t take long for Messi to make an impact on the Leagues Cup match as he scored in the eighth minute to open the game.
After FC Dallas went up 4-2 in the second half, an own goal by Robert Taylor in the 68th minute led to a clutch equalizer by Messi to tie the game 4-4 in the 85th minute.
The game-tying goal helped Inter Miami get to a penalty shoot kick shootout where they silenced the home team crowd.
Inter Miami advances to the quarterfinal of the Leagues Cup where they play the winner of the Houston Dynamo FC and Charlotte FC match up on Aug. 11 or 12.
