Fort Worth Vaqueros squander lead, fall to Houston
The Houston Regals used two goals in the last 22 minutes to beat the Fort Worth Vaqueros 2-1 Friday night in Houston.
The loss keeps the Vaqueros (1-3-2, 5 points) winless on the road this season.
Fort Worth to the lead seconds before halftime when a Houston handball in the penalty area lead to a goal from midfielder Ricky Mejia.
The Vaqueros kept Houston (2-3-1, 7 points) at bay until a turnover in the 78th minute led to the game-tying goal. The Regals scored the game-winner seven minutes later.
The Vaqueros stay on the road and head to San Antonio to play the Corinthians on Sunday. That first road win may be tough because the first-place Corinthians are undefeated.
