FC Dallas pummeled by drought-plagued Rapids
March was just about perfect for FC Dallas. April? Perfectly awful so far.
Dillon Powers had a goal and an assist as the Colorado Rapids ended an 18-game winless streak with a 4-0 rout of FC Dallas (3-2-1) on Friday night.
FCD went 3-0-1 last month to start the season, but they were routed 3-1 at Portland on April 4 before Friday’s drubbing at the hands of the team with the worst record in MLS’ Western Conference entering the match.
And if losing to a side one loss shy of setting the MLS record record for most consecutive matches without a victory wasn’t bad enough, FC Dallas gave up a goal, by Dominique Badji, in the second minute that ended the Rapids’ scoreless drought at 601 minutes. It was the first goal for Colorado (1-1-3) since Oct. 11.
The MLS scoring-drought record is 623 minutes by Toronto FC in 2007. The Rapids last victory was on July 26.
FCD, which swept all three games against Colorado last season, had only three shots on target.
