Simone Biles wins second medal in 2024 Paris Olympics in women’s individual all around

Simone Biles continued her assault on the record books when she won gold in the women’s individual all-around competition as the 2024 Paris Olympics on Thursday for her sixth gold medal of all time.

Biles was already the U.S. women’s gymnastics all-time leader in gold medals and now has twice as much as Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman who are tied for second with three apiece.

Biles led for most of the completion and was in the lead heading into the final rotation and wowed with her floor routine en route to becoming the oldest woman to win the individual all-around since 1952.

Brazillian Rebeca Andrade won silver and fellow U.S. athlete Suni Lee won bronze for the sixth medal of her Olympic career.

The all-around gold caps off a comeback for BIles who struggled with the “twisties,” in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and was forced to withdraw from both the team and individual all-around citing mental health struggles.
